Healthy Pumps

Cavitation occurs when a pump operates in a starved condition, unable to obtain enough water from the suction side to satisfy its flow requirements. If cavitation is allowed to continue for extended periods of time, it will eventually destroy the pump. Cavitation is a symptom of a problem. The pump is not getting enough water. This could be the result of incorrect pipe size, or some other form of restriction on the inlet side of the pump.
